Introduction To MPA Search
Welcome to the MPA Search demo. We hope that this will give you a flavour of the functions and features that are available. Our services aim to make the data you need easily accessible, simple to search and understand.
In order to begin the demonstration, you should first log in using the username and password details that you have been provided. You will notice that, after you have logged in, a menu will appear at the left of the screen. Clicking on any of the the links will take you to the search page for the specified database.
The demo provides you with access to sample data from three of our online databases:

EU Drug Patent Status Review: This database covers the major product/preparation patent information together with any allied supplementary protection certificate (SPC) for all products on the market in major EU territories.

EU 1st Marketing Authorisation: This database provides EU first authorisation information for products, essential in determining the data and marketing exclusivity durations under EU regulations.

Product Licence Search: This database provides a quick and easy access to marketing authorisations filed in the UK since 1997.
The search pages are the gateway into the data contained in each database. You may search for specific terms or a combination of terms by entering those in the appropriate boxes. An advanced search option is also available on certain databases to enable a more in depth search.
Alternatively, by leaving the search terms blank and clicking search, you shall be presented with the full list of available data. To begin a new search it is advisable to clear prior search terms individually or select the reset button.
Once you have identified a record of interest, clicking on the adjacent "more" button will navigate to a more detailed view of that record. Print options are available throughout the site.

Sample Data
The demonstration is limited to the following sample data:
BASE TABLE
This shows all the active ingredients featured in the MPA patent database represented as International Non-proprietary Name. It shows the Chemical Abstract Registry number (CAS), the designated anatomical classification and the therapeutic use.

EU DRUG PATENT STATUS REVIEW
The following six sample demonstration items are contained in the demo:
- Atovaquone
- Cefpirome sulphate
- Famciclovir
- Fluvastatin
- Imiquimod
- Quetiapine fumerate
The relevant patent information for the countries covered will be displayed. By clicking “more” in the end column, detailed information shall be displayed.
EU FIRST AUTHORISATION
The EU first authorisation data for the demonstration products listed above are available in the demo.
UK PRODUCT LICENCE SEARCH
For this demonstration we recommend the option of searching by company or by product. The company used for this demonstration is The Boots Company Plc which by just typing “Boots” in the company name column will show all products granted licences in the UK for the past 11 or so years.
To illustrate a product search we have used “famciclovir” and “Fluvastatin” for demonstration. Typing either in the product column will show all licences granted in the UK for the past 11 years or so containing these active ingredients.
